Dr. Shruti Das is a distinguished Professor of English. She has served as the Head of the Post Graduate Department of English, and Director of the Centre for Canadian Studies at Berhampur University, Odisha. An avid researcher, poet and scholar, her academic contributions extend globally, having lectured as a visiting faculty at universities in Poland (2017) and Brazil (2024) on Ecocriticism and Indian Culture.

She was invited to present a paper on Diaspora at the Heads of Commonwealth Governments sponsored conference in Malta in 2015. She is listed in the ALA Directory of Scholars at Princeton University, USA, and has received accolades such as the ALSE Biennial Travel Award (2019) for her research on Indigenous tribes of Odisha. She has the privilege and honour of being listed in the Commonwealth Bibliography of writers in 2013 for her poetry.

She has authored 13 books and over 100 research papers as journal articles and book chapters. Her latest book “Ecological Interconnections” was published by Lexington Books in 2025. Her translation of Pandit Nilakantha Das’s Essays entitled “Religion and Culture: Selected Essays of Pt. Nilakantha Das” is due to be published by Sahitya Akademi shortly. Her editorial roles include serving as the Editor of Literary Oracle, an Interdisciplinary Journal of Literature and Culture.

She is honored as reviewer and member board of editors for various prestigious journals internationally. Her scholarly pursuits and extensive contributions to academia underscore her dedication to advancing knowledge in Environmental Humanities, Indian Aesthetics, Postcolonial Literature, Gender, Translation and South Asian literatures. She is an advisor to UPSC and member of various boards of Bharatiya Bhasa Samity. Currently, Prof Das is serving as Hon’ble Member, Staff Selection Commission, Odisha.
