A Special Issue on Feminist and Postfeminist Studies in Literature and Culture
Chief Editor: Prof. Shruti Das
This special issue of Literary Oracle explores how feminist and postfeminist perspectives engage with contemporary literature, media, and cultural narratives. The changing features of feminist and postfeminist discourses in literature and culture continues to generate critical debates on gender, agency, representation, and intersectionality. The 21st century shows a complex negotiation between feminist activism, identity politics, and the commodification of feminist ideals, raising new questions about autonomy, resistance, and inclusivity. From the subversion of traditional gender roles to the emergence of neoliberal postfeminist subjectivities, this issue aims to examine how feminist thought evolves in response to global socio-political transformations. The issue welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that analyze feminist reconfigurations in literature, cinema, digital culture, and performance art.
We invite scholars to contribute original research that critically examines topics including, but not limited to:
- The intersections of feminism and postfeminism in contemporary literature and media
- Feminist reimaginings of myth, folklore, and history
- Postfeminist narratives and the politics of choice, empowerment, and commodification
- Intersectionality and its impact on gender studies
- Feminism and digital cultures: social media, activism, and cyberfeminism
- Queer, trans, and non-binary identities in feminist and postfeminist discourse
- Global feminism and transnational solidarities in literary and cultural representations
- Feminist ecocriticism and the politics of sustainability
- Revisions of feminist literary theory in the context of neoliberalism
